Fashion and design are two sides of the same coin. Both are necessary for a good outfit and some of the latest trends arriving this season will be inspired by the retro look. Check out some of our fall trends to watch out for and to start incorporating into your fall wardrobe!
Coming to fur, it can be used as trimmings in dresses, coats and as a luxurious material for sleeves as it is in trend these days. We are noticing a lot of street style stars sporting colorful fur coats, scarves, and stoles this season. This timeless trend is showing no signs of slowing down, since the Fall 2015 runways in New York have so far been awash in furry accoutrements that cry, “Look at me!” From striped fur stoles to pastel furry coats, designers are using fur accents—whether real or faux—to give everything from silky evening wear to lady like jackets and added accents of luxury.
Pleats are once again in fashion, and undoubtedly they look elegant the way they fall around the legs. Pleats can be in trousers, skirts and dresses that give a different look to them. What’s interesting about the trend this year are the car wash pleats style. Everyone from Proenza, to Tommy Hilfiger, to Thakoon, carwash pleats made their case early in New York for being the skirt shape of the season and then by the time Paris rolled around and Raf Simons showed them on the Christian Dior runway, their fate was certain. The new way to show off those gams next season will be through these pleats. This is one trend I can’t wait to try.
High waist pants are not so new, as far as trends go. They have been staking their stay for a while now, and it’s no wonder. It’s universally flattering for the female bodice. It’s a look that is super slimming and very sexy. It’s not just a high waist, it’s an exaggerated silhouette that results in the look of long, lean legs and a teeny tiny mid-section. Outfit it with patchwork or embroidered knitted crop tops, ponchos and long boots.
Mini skirts will never just be a trend for me, they’re a staple. With a 5’3 petite frame, this style always works well for me. For fall we saw a lot of that on the runway paired with textured coats, crisp oxford shirts, and tough leather jackets. Skirts came in all forms, such as metallics, floral patterns, leathers, soft and bright hues.
It is important that the clothes you wear should bring the wearer an air of confidence which produces those “feel good” feelings. Fashion trends constantly change every season. In the end, modernizing and differentiating your look from others is the hot trend. Fashion month has come and gone, yet our heads are still reeling with all the looks we’ve seen on the runways of New York, London, Milan, and Paris. And of course we do have to ask ourselves, who helps dictate these trends and how are most designers on the same page of including these trends in each season? Is it telepathic ingenuity that dictates what goes in our closets and what gets pushed at the back?
Fashion does contain their air of mystery, and we so like it!
