Take the time to scan many fashion mags such as W Magazine’s April issue, and some how it seems like a high-fashion editorial yearbook of all the celeb teens you know and love including Willow Smith, Kiernan Shipka and Zendaya on its April issue. Move on to other luxury glossies and you can see Cindy Crawdford’s exact lush mini me, Kaia Gerber with rappers and models in a campaign that of Alexander Wang. Louis Vuitton has 17-year-old Jaden Smith who models for their women’s wear, as well as Lourdes “Lola” Leon and AmandlaStenberg for a new fragrance ad for Stella McCartney.
W chief Stefano Tonchi addresses the staggeringly young age of his cover stars. “The new generation, Gen Z, which spans current teenagers like the three on our cover and their peers in their early 20s, is in a hurry to be recognized, yes—but in a refreshingly thoughtful way,” he writes. “Unlike their predecessors, they are no slackers. Generally speaking, they are curious, determined, and hardworking. If there is anything they lack, it’s a sense of entitlement.”

The Topshop Unique F/W 16′ Runway show made its debut just yesterday. Just as we are ready to leave the cold weather behind us in anticipation for Spring’s colorful prints and shorter hemlines—we’ve fallen back in love all over again with fur-luxe coats, tailored trousers, and flowy Victorian-inspired dresses that graced the catwalk yesterday. Models Taylor Hill and Lineisy Montero were among some of the models who walked the runway in Topshop’s Sunday presentation.
Topshop’s creative director Kate Phelan declared backstage, that the collection was all about “unravelling the great unknown of British style.” Outerwear was a major highlight in yesterday’s show with fur lined bomber jackets, crisp white shirts outfitted under silk lined leather jackets. Leopard print was expected to be seen with leather miniskirts, as well as leopard print shirts and cashmere coats. Elements of athleisure wear was also seen sprinkled in between the 42 looks presented.
Coachella has revealed its 2016 lineup. The Indio, California-based festival will again take place over the span of two weekends, April 15th – 17th and 22nd – 24th, at the Empire Polo Grounds. The lineup is led by a pair of major reunions: the founding members of Guns’ N Roses will reunite for their first performance in two decades, while LCD Soundsystem will return after a five-year hiatus, confirming the rumors that have been buzzing around the internet for weeks now. I’m predicting that Daft Punk will not only be playing at the house, but will make an appearance on stage with LCD in one of the ultimate Coachella surprises of this decade. This year marks a new era for Coachella as it seems to have finally shed its Indie shell and has emerged a Pop Juggernaut, which has us on edge for the fate of its sibling festival, FYF. Notably lacking on the roster is Kendrick Lamar, who had arguably the best year in 2015 and would’ve been a nice compliment to Drake’s performance last year. It looks like he’ll have to comfort himself with one of the Grammy’s he’s sure to take home next month. Also, surprisingly lacking are Sleater-Kinney, a staple in the realm of indie rock, who dropped their latest album last year and would fit right in with the new selection of bands that have mainstream draw. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the fate of Coachella and we’re already picking out our selection of floral crowns and maxi dresses right now.
Time certainly does fly! 2015 marked a remarkable 365 days for fashion. However, just because they were more strides for the better, we’d like to take the time to reflect on the missteps that might be better left off in the past. The end of the year symbolizes a rebirth and revitalization, one that you apply to every aspect of your life which includes things in your closet and the beauty looks you’ve flocked to all year. Like Heidi Klum says at the beginning of each judging on Project Runway, “In fashion, one day you’re in, and the next you’re out”. This might be the perfect opportunity to reinvent yourself and shake up your style with something fresh and new. If the 2016 runway shows are any indication, the new year will all be about fresh vitality, cool colors, and lots and lots of feminine undertones. You can trade in your old looks for something new and updated this time around. The trends are rapidly changing. One thing can be absolutely certain: you can stop contouring and highlighting your face every day, reserve that for special occasions–if the runways of Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, Narcisco Rodriquez, Emilio Pucci, Balmain, Elizabeth & James, and Hood by Air are any indication, that ship has long since sailed. 2015 isn’t quite over yet, but we’ve already got an abundance of things to look forward to for next year. Now, Marc Jacobs has given us yet another thing to be hopeful for in the future. He announced via his Instagram yesterday afternoon that is long time friend Winona Ryder was tapped to be the face of his Spring 2016 Beauty campaign. This will be the first time the actress has ever been the face of a beauty campaign, but not the first time she partnered with Jacobs in a campaign. Winona was featured in a fun an quirky Fall campaign only a few months ago and it seems that the collaboration went so well, they’re at it again. The image that Marc shared on his account was a cropped close-up of Winona rocking a a thin cat-eye, long thick lashes, and a hue of blush pink on her lips. The look is one that balances iconically heavy makeup of the 60s with the fresh, natural look that designers have been erring towards all year. The inspiration for the look has been sited by Jacobs as Delphine Seyrig from the film The Last Year at Marienbad.

Did you hear the news? Or, rather, did you see it? Last week, Pantone–the self-appointed color Czar’s of the universe– announced their selections for the color(s) of 2016. This is great news if you’re already over the boring Marsala (or in the words of our patron saint, Project Runway season 8 contestant Christopher Palu “fucking red”), and if you’re ready to embrace a color palette that is less severe and more calming. In fact, they specifically named the colors Serenity and Rose Quartz to evoke a sense of calm, peace, and perhaps, a trip to the spa. We’d already predicted that the big color of 2016 would probably be a shade of blue, so we’re definitely on board with the appointed soft shade that is delightfully reminiscent of a baby blanket. As for the pink, we hopped on the Rose Quartz bandwagon two months ago when we got our hands on that iPhone 6s, in the same hue, so color us impressed.
