It’s no question that one of the most covetable denim collections around belongs to that of Leandra Medine, aka The Man Repeller. Whether we’re catching Leandra in a light wash or the deepest indigos, they’re a staple of both her front row and everyday style, as she slips easily from the enchanted Valentino boots to Paul Andrew heels and back again. This OG blogger has come out with her latest collab with none other than the team at denim Levi reviver Re/Done. She follows in the footsteps of fellow Re/Done collaborators such as model Elsa Hosk, jewelry designer Pamela Love, and model Alessandra Ambrosia.
Her Re/Done collaboration jean named aptly after her, the Leandra, was born out of a prolific moment during one of her wardrobe crisis of getting an irreparable hole in one of her favorite jeans she had thrifted. “I spent nine months,” Medine tells Vogue.com, “aggressively looking for a pair of high-waist, cropped but somewhat flared vintage Levi’s to emulate a pair I’d found in a vintage store but irreparably ripped through the crotch. So when the opportunity to work with Re/Done presented itself, it seemed like an ideal time to both accommodate my own pursuit, but also hopefully help other like-minded jean-wearers.”
The development of the Leandra began back in December of 2014. In part due to her pursuit of replacing her once long lost flared pair, Leandra new exactly what style of jean she wanted – a high rise cropped flare. Re/Done’s challenge was figuring out how to make one out of vintage men’s Levi’s jeans. The high rise was the easy part – the jean’s top half fits very well, however the flare proved difficult to achieve. Adding a denim insert to the straight leg of the jean helped achieve the perfect flare. The result? The perfect stylish jean to start your summer off on the right foot! In honor of Leandra’s very successful launch—which is almost sold out or on waiting list mode, we round up some of our favorite Man Repeller denim moments.
